Job Summary/Basic Function

Classification Summary:
• Maintain University (BAS) to include {Tour Andover “Vista”, Schneider Electric “Struxureware”, Siemens “Appogee Insight” and JCI Digital Control Systems. This includes their electrical and electronic components throughout the buildings and plants of the university. Responds and takes appropriate action to remedy problems as they develop. Assignments involve skilled work of considerable complexity, usually performed under tight timelines. Works directly with the Energy Management Specialist and Energy Management Specialist Sr.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
• Must be capable of troubleshooting the digital control systems using the universities Energy Management System.
• By troubleshooting, testing, repairing, adjusting and calibrating parts like routers, data managers, (programmable logic and application specific) controllers, electric actuators for dampers and valves and relays, pressure, temperature, humidity, co2 sensors and electric and pneumatic transducers of equipment in the field.
• Assure effective controlling of the mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, Variable Air Volume boxes, AC Variable Frequency Drives, air handlers, exhaust and supply fans, motors, pumps and fan-coils throughout university buildings and central plants.
• Monitor safety concerns of laboratories to assure the safe operation of the room’s Supply
Air, Quality and Exhausting of gaseous hazardous materials in fume hoods.
• Responds to hot and cold calls, calibrating of sensors and equipment as needed.
• Takes temperature and humidity readings in the buildings. Makes adjustments to the control equipment in the field with the use of M-stat or Operator hand held programmer and by the TAC Vista software on the frontend.
• Program energy savings programs and schedule changes for daily and after hour usage.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
•Bachelor Degree or Associate of Applied Science Technology’s Degree required in one of these related fields: Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Process Operating, Instrumentation, Industrial Maintenance or Computer Science
• Copy of transcript required

Experience:
• Ten (10) years journeyman level progressively responsible experience, or
• A combination of education, experience, certifications, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities.

Job Requirement:
• Knowledge of the use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge working with an Energy Management System.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.
• Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials common to utility maintenance and operations.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, application, and disposal.
• Knowledge of applicable building and mechanical codes.

Skills:
• Skill in isolating defects in mechanical equipment system operations.
• Skill in the repair, construction, restoration and installation of HVAC controls.
• Skill in estimating time and material requirements of work projects.

Certification/Licensing:
• Valid Driver’s License and Insurable

Physical Requirements:
• Considerable physical activity, restricted movement, lifting, carrying heavy objects, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
• Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
• Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

Supervision:
• Works with little supervision.
