Job Summary/Basic Function

The Center for Career and Professional Development at Lamar University works to connect students with employers, and provides opportunities for students and alumni to gain confidence in transitioning from college to career. Within this department is Testing Services, which is available to assist students and professionals in their pursuit of school admissions and professional certifications. The Center adheres to the promotion of professionalism and quality in the administration of testing services and programs.

The Coordinator for Testing Services within the Center for Career and Professional Development is responsible for maintaining test integrity while providing an environment free of distraction to ensure a positive experience is had by test takers. This position reports to the Director of the Center for Career and Professional Development.

The Coordinator for Testing Services will manage Client Services and conduct client check in. Coordinator will serve as main back up for the Pearson Vue Graduate Assistant. The Coordinator will maintain scheduling for department, i.e. exams and client appointments. The Coordinator for Testing Services will assist the Director in scheduling and coordinating the administration of high stakes mass distributed exams. The Coordinator will serve as SAT Test Administrator. This position will have an on call status for extended hours and weekends as needed. The Coordinator will assist with interviewing, training, scheduling of graduate assistants, proctors, and student assistants. Candidate will make decisions regarding examinee misconduct and irregularities via problem solving and analysis of sponsor’s policies and procedures; the position is responsible for knowing and understanding testing requirements and rules. The Coordinator will be responsible for securing accurate inventory records of testing materials and confidential information. Coordinator is responsible for appropriate packaging of test materials and ensuring proper return to testing sponsor. The Coordinator for Testing Services will collect data and analyze monthly and annual reports related to testing services and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university is required. A minimum of 6 months – 1 year combined experience in standardized testing and customer service is required. Certification or the ability to obtain certification in Pearson Vue, CLEP, and GMAT is required. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, knowledge of basic office equipment and ability to demonstrate knowledge in the management of databases, MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, and Access), testing and scanning software. Candidate should have knowledge of University admissions and placement policies. Candidate must be familiar with Accuplacer, CLEP, DSST, HESI, MAT, and Quick THEA. Applicant should be able to balance University policies and procedures with each testing company and exam sponsor. Knowledge of security, standardization, and confidentiality is a must. Candidate’s skills should include problem solving, supervision, customer service, and conflict resolution skills.
