Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Recruitment is responsible for meeting targeted growth goals by representing and marketing Lamar University to prospective students through supervision of assigned staff and managing an individual caseload. The Assistant Director directs the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of student recruitment and yield activities. This position is expected to formulate, affect, interpret or implement management policies or operating practices. This position will report to the Director of Recruitment in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment.

Job Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with Director of Recruitment to create a business plan, initiate, and execute an Alumni Recruitment Program.
• The Assistant Director will work with university departments, alumni, and admissions counseling staff to develop outlets for university alumni to participate in the recruitment of prospective students to Lamar University.
• Responsibilities for creating a training program for alumni recruitment, using admissions counselors to work with alumni, use existing programs for alumni participation, create new programs for alumni recruitment, and tracking data to evaluate effectiveness and financial expenditures.
• Supervise assigned team of Admissions Counselors including on-campus and remote-based staff including their professional development, scope of work, and assessments.
• Responsible for team’s successful results while promoting team dynamics through active participation and leadership
• Identifies skill gaps and works with employees to identify remedies and sponsor successful application of those remedies
• Collaborates with leadership team to determine yearly and intermittent goals/objectives are designed, measured and effectively lead
• Promotes a recruitment strategy, including an annual recruitment plan that is aligned to overall goals of Lamar University within assigned recruitment territory
• Recommends opportunities to enhance marketing and student services from inquiry through orientation to ensure that a diverse student body is attracted and enrolled
• Provides and analyzes information in the Student Information System (Banner) and CRM (Ellucian), for management purposes by producing reports as needed
• Collaborates with Admissions Counselors and leadership to ensure operational activities within the admission office are streamlined and productive
• Maintains competency and professional currency through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as requested by office leadership
• Assists with the planning and execution of special programs and projects
• Serve as a liaison to other departments on campus
• Travel of up to 25%. Travel will consist of assistant director representing Lamar University at university-related and/or professional programming including: College fairs, recruitment events, Lamar University sponsored programs, profession-related programming and other events as necessary.
• Preforms all other essential duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 3 years of progressive recruitment/admission and/or higher education experience required
• Ability to travel and work a varied schedule with flexible hours including some weekends and evenings
• Management and Leadership experience preferred
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required
• Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, particularly in matters relative to sensitive or confidential student records, personnel or organizational matters
• Ability to effectively lead and manage a team
• Ability to effectively communicate across all levels through strong verbal, written and presentation skills
• Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and to be a self-starter
• Ability to clearly and persuasively articulate university programs and offerings to prospective students
• Previous experience with Banner student information system and/or Ellucian Recruit Customer Relationship Management system strongly preferred.
• Active Involvement in college admission counseling related professional organizations strongly preferred.
